Muslim lolcats VIII: A Design For Life

Just heard the a certain leader has made his son in charge of everything. Such a shock, I may have to lie down.

Brethren, and sistren, but mainly brethren: Mona Eltahawy calls Palestine
‘“the opium of the Arabs”: an intoxicating way for them to forget their own failings, or at least blame them on someone else.’

I liked this article by Abdul Hakim Murad: A warning we should heed

I saw this article on Cif, on how the ritual slaughter of animals without stunning is cruel. A reasonable and well written position is put here. The obsession with HMC is funny.

Harun Yahya, Harun Yahya, what a strange man are ya.

I’ll respect the BNP when they agree that the family of Germans and Greeks who live in Windsor Castle need deporting, and try to do something about it.

Gentlemans whose children are getting married, please be easy on the kids. That is all.
A BNP campaing person gave me their leaflet and magazine the other day. Apparently the average voter of BNP these days is a muslim inna niqab wit a half-cast kid… U gotta change wit the times:) Or then they were just trying their luck ( a more likely reason)
The 1st one could also apply to the country next door *cof gamal cof cof*
I was very sad to see you quoting from that ridiculous woman Mona Eltahawy. She is openly critical of various Islamic issues like the niqab and has her own odd feminist take on normal Islamic practises. Perhaps you have not read her views on Islam that she writes about on her website? I would encourage you to have a look before you decide to quote her again.
I am not sure I understand the joke about anti-zionism. Are you saying that before we condemn the Israeli massacre in Gaza and brutal occupation of Palestine we somehow need to pass a sort of personal benchmark of education, material possession and intellectual rigor as decided by you and Mona??? It is very sad if this is the case.
Now don’t get all coy and say, its all a big joke, where is your sense of humour, Muslims need to learn to laugh, or all the other excuses you use when someone rebukes you. Think carefully about my critisims. Yes we are all flawed people but that should not prevent us from having the confidence to take a stand.
Oh and by the way, the obsession with HMC is not funny. Its call attempting to practise your religion. Sorry if we are cramping your style.
May Allah swt guide us all to the right path.
Salaams Umm Zeenat
Just because someone has made a good point, it doesn’t mean we agree with everything they write. I think that is how quotes work.
As for the obession with anti-zionism, I highlighted a prescient piece a while back http://www.mooslim.com/blog/?p=190
Finally, HMC – again, a sincere scheme, if there wasn’t a push to make it the arbiter of things halal. There is a national chain of butchers that have inspectable abbattoirs, have non-stunned meat and are exceptionally clean and hygienic. Yet, because they are not HMC, certain people will not shop there. Its silly to make a committee override ones intellect and understanding of what is allowed and what isn’t. I actually don’t have a problem with the folks at HMC, the issue is lemming-like view of ‘it’s only halal if its filtered through the HMC’. And really, there have been enough examples for me to highlight this, consistently.
